DESCRIPTION:7-9pm Thursday 15th May | 7-9pm Thursday 19th June | 7-9pm Thursday 17th July  \n3 sessions looking at common themes in texts that are sacred to people of the Abrahamic faiths\, with the hope of deepening our understanding of one another.  \n  \nHow will these events be inclusive and balanced? \nEach evening will be hosted at a different faith centre\, all within the same area of Bristol i.e. May – Synagogue\, June – Mosque\, July – Church. We encourage attending all three evenings if possible. \nThe events are being co-hosted by a member of each faith\, and all sacred texts will be checked by a trusted and learned leader. The themes for these evenings will be Adam & Eve (known as ‘Chava’ in Hebrew or ‘Hawa’ in Arabic)\, Abraham (‘Avraham’ or ‘Ibrahim’) & Sarah\, and Noah (‘Noach’ or ‘Nuh’). \nEach text will be looked at in a different order each time\, and discussion around each text will be separate\, we will not be actively comparing each text. \nWe hope to have an equal number of representatives from each faith around each table\, or at least all three faiths represented around each table. \nAny refreshments provided will be kosher and halal. \nAll participants will need to have read and agreed to the Listening Spaces (Around Sacred Texts) Guidelines. \nPlease note: further details will follow booking confirmation. \nListening Spaces are events that facilitate face-to-face\, intentional listening and dialogue between people of different cultures\, races\, faiths\, social class and political opinions.

DESCRIPTION:Bristol Cathedral\, Muslims4Bristol and Bridges for Communities are delighted to be working together to bring a Grand Iftar to Bristol city centre for the third year in a row. On Thursday 13th March\, Bristol Cathedral will open its doors to welcome people from across the city\, to come together and share a meal at this special multi faith event. \nIftar is the time when Muslims break their fast at sunset during Ramadan. It is seen as an opportunity to spend time with friends\, family and people from the wider community. The Cathedral will host the Iftar\, which this year has the theme ‘Belonging and Togetherness’\, and Iftar prayers will take place outside the Cathedral in an adjacent facility. \n“As a charity focussed on building social cohesion\, we’re excited to see faith communities working together in new ways. Sharing a meal and listening to one another’s traditions and beliefs is a great starting point for dialogue. It doesn’t mean you have to agree about everything\, and it’s not about mixing or watering down your beliefs or convictions – it’s about spending time together where you can build on what we have in common. DESCRIPTION:Our Cultural Awareness Training course helps people understand the role culture plays in shaping our experiences and expectations in life\, as well as preparing them to relate more effectively to people from different cultural backgrounds or perspectives. By reflecting on our own cultural influences\, and by seeking to understand those of others\, the course helps to prepare people for cross-cultural experiences\, for working in multicultural teams and for living in today’s multicultural society. \nWe are offering a free 45 minute taster session of our training course\, open to anyone who would like to begin to explore these themes. Expect an interactive\, engaged\, discursive session\, including a Cultural Case Study facilitated by a trainer with lived experience.
