SUMMARY:Around Sacred Texts
DESCRIPTION:7-9pm Thursday 15th May | 7-9pm Thursday 19th June | 7-9pm Thursday 17th July  \n3 sessions looking at common themes in texts that are sacred to people of the Abrahamic faiths\, with the hope of deepening our understanding of one another.  \n  \nHow will these events be inclusive and balanced? \nEach evening will be hosted at a different faith centre\, all within the same area of Bristol i.e. May – Synagogue\, June – Mosque\, July – Church. We encourage attending all three evenings if possible. \nThe events are being co-hosted by a member of each faith\, and all sacred texts will be checked by a trusted and learned leader. The themes for these evenings will be Adam & Eve (known as ‘Chava’ in Hebrew or ‘Hawa’ in Arabic)\, Abraham (‘Avraham’ or ‘Ibrahim’) & Sarah\, and Noah (‘Noach’ or ‘Nuh’). \nEach text will be looked at in a different order each time\, and discussion around each text will be separate\, we will not be actively comparing each text. \nWe hope to have an equal number of representatives from each faith around each table\, or at least all three faiths represented around each table. \nAny refreshments provided will be kosher and halal. \nAll participants will need to have read and agreed to the Listening Spaces (Around Sacred Texts) Guidelines. \nPlease note: further details will follow booking confirmation. \nListening Spaces are events that facilitate face-to-face\, intentional listening and dialogue between people of different cultures\, races\, faiths\, social class and political opinions.

SUMMARY:Peace Feast at The MAZI Project
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special Peace Feast for young people during Food Justice Fortnight\, in partnership with the MAZI Project and Feeding Bristol!  \nShare a delicious meal featuring several different cuisines\, some live music by Moroccan artist Soufian Saihi\, and guest speakers – this will be a relaxed evening bringing young people together and raising awareness about food justice. \nWeds 11th June\, 7-9pm \nThe MAZI Project\, Unit 2\, St Catherines Trading Estate\, Dalby Avenue\, BS3 4DJ \nThe event is open to all members of The MAZI Project and of Bridges for Communities\, aged 16-25. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a special conversation Arnolfini\, marking the upcoming exhibition Dana Awartani: Standing by the ruins\, and discussing questions like: \n\n\nWhat does society lose when cultural artefacts are destroyed in war\, violence or through colonialism?\nRemembrance\, healing and forgetting: how could people respond?\nWhat is Bristol’s role and response to these topics?\n\n\nWith guest speaker Dana Awartani\, light refreshments and facilitated discussion. All opinions are welcome – the goal is to build understanding and awareness of different viewpoints\, not to reach agreement. \nWe acknowledge that though it is important\, conversation is not always easy\, so we ask that you read through our Listening Spaces Guidelines for discussion before signing up. We hope to create an environment that is welcoming to all\, with full permission to step out or choose not to share at any point in the discussion. \n\nListening Spaces \nSafe spaces to listen and be heard across different cultures\, races\, faiths\, social class and political opinions.
