SUMMARY:Listening Space: What do the flags mean to you?
DESCRIPTION:This event is now sold out\, but please join the waiting list and we will get in touch if any spaces open up.  \nOver the past few months\, flags of St George and the Union Jack have been put up around the UK and in Bristol\, evoking a range of opinions and feelings – for some a symbol of pride and belonging\, and for others one of intimidation and exclusion. Most of the debate has taken place online\, stoking emotions further and causing deeper divisions in our communities. \nWe are creating an opportunity for people of all viewpoints to come together for a facilitated group conversation around this topic\, with the goal of building understanding. \nListening Spaces help us to explain our thoughts and feelings in a space where people have come to listen and to understand where one another are coming from. \nParticipants must read and agree to the Listening Spaces guidelines in order to attend\, and to ensure that this is a safe and respectful space for everybody. \n\nListening Spaces \nSafe spaces to listen and be heard across different cultures\, races\, faiths and opinions. SUMMARY:Around Sacred Texts - POSTPONED
DESCRIPTION:SERIES POSTPONED: Sadly we have had to delay this round of Around Sacred Texts. \nWe hope to run it again in the Spring term. Please sign up for email updates so that you don’t miss out on details of the next series. \n3 sessions looking at common themes in texts that are sacred to people of Christianity\, Judaism and Islam\, with the hope of deepening our understanding of one another.  \nHow will these events be run? \nEach evening will be hosted at a different faith centre and details will be sent after signing up to the event. We encourage attending all three evenings if possible so that discussion groups remain the same throughout the series. \nThe events are being co-hosted by a member of each faith\, and all sacred texts will be checked by a trusted and learned leader. The themes for these evenings will be ‘Prayer’\, ‘Fasting’\, and ‘Generosity’. \nEach text will be looked at in a different order each time\, and discussion around each text will be separate\, we will not be actively comparing each text. \nWe hope to have an equal number of representatives from each faith around each table\, or at least all three faiths represented around each table. \nAny refreshments provided will be kosher and halal. \nAll participants will need to have read and agreed to the Listening Spaces (Around Sacred Texts) Guidelines. \nPlease note: further details will follow booking confirmation. \nListening Spaces are events that facilitate face-to-face\, intentional listening and dialogue between people of different cultures\, races\, faiths\, social class and political opinions.
