DESCRIPTION:RefuLingua Language Classes: Summer Term 2026 \nWelcome to our RefuLingua Summer Term 2026 programme of group classes. Courses run for eight weeks from the start date and lessons are one hour long. All classes this term are suitable for beginners except for Sana’s Thursday class. We can also connect you with speakers of Farsi\, Pashto\, Dari\, Somali\, Turkish\, Spanish\, and Kurdish who are eager to share their language and culture in informal lesson contexts. SUMMARY:Around Sacred Texts (2026)
DESCRIPTION:3-part series looking at common themes in texts that are sacred to people of Christianity\, Judaism and Islam\, with the hope of deepening our understanding of one another.  \nWednesdays 7-9pm | 22nd April\, 6th May & 20th May \nHow will these events be run? \nEach evening will be hosted at a different faith centre and details will be sent after signing up to the event. We strongly encourage attending all three evenings so that discussion groups remain the same throughout the series. \nThe events are being co-hosted by a member of each faith\, and all sacred texts will be checked by a trusted and learned leader. The themes for these evenings will be ‘Scripture’\, ‘Prophecy’\, and ‘Reconciliation with God (the role of sacrifice)’. \nEach text will be looked at in a different order each time\, and discussion around each text will be separate\, we will not be actively comparing each text. \nWe hope to have an equal number of representatives from each faith around each table\, or at least all three faiths represented around each table. \nAny refreshments provided will be kosher and halal. \nAll participants will need to have read and agreed to the Listening Spaces (Around Sacred Texts) Guidelines. \nPlease note: further details will follow booking confirmation. \nListening Spaces are events that facilitate face-to-face\, intentional listening and dialogue between people of different cultures\, races\, faiths\, social class and political opinions.

SUMMARY:Lunch & Learn: Cultural Awareness 101
DESCRIPTION:Cultural Awareness: Free Lunch and Learn Taster\n\n\n\n\nThis only taster course helps people understand the role culture plays in shaping our experiences and expectations in life\, as well as preparing them to relate more effectively to people from different cultural backgrounds or perspectives. By reflecting on our own cultural influences\, and by seeking to understand those of others\, it helps to prepare people for cross-cultural experiences\, for working in multicultural teams and for living in today’s multicultural society. \n\n\nAt the end of this taster programme\, you will: \n\n\n\nUnderstand some different models for thinking about ‘culture’\nHave a better understanding of your own cultural influences\n\nThe training we received from Bridges was excellent. The trainer was able to share the benefit of their experience in a way that was both useful and easy to absorb. \nWe learnt so much about Middle Eastern culture\, all of which will be so helpful to us in understanding and supporting the Syrian family we hope to welcome. \n\n\nAbout | This event forms part of our 2026 Cultural Training Lunch and Learn series.
