A free, informal online workshop to gain confidence and skills discussing cultural difference across different contexts.
Through delivering inter-cultural training around Bristol over the past few years one thing has become clear: many of us feel uncertain when it comes to talking about culture.
- What are some of the strongest cultural influences in your own life?
- Where should we draw the line with cultural relativity?
- When is it alright to ask someone where they are from?
- What is the difference between cultural appropriation and cultural appreciation?
From the personal to the academic, there are many ways to engage with this topic. Our approach is not to tell you what’s right or wrong but to encourage healthy, connected discussion that helps us all learn and expand our awareness of different perspectives and experience. After, we’ll give you a digital version of our ‘Cultural Conversation Starter Deck’ to take back into your workplaces and lives so you can keep the conversation going.
This workshop will be conversation-based with prompts and light input to fuel our discussions. Please come ready to get stuck in!
